This may have been posted elsewhere, but I could not find it. I'm sorry if I have double-posted.

I'm running Fedora Core 4 with kernel ver. 2.6.16-1.2111_FC4
I've got an ATI Radeon 8500LE video card.
I believe I have installed the necessary components for my system to recognize the card, however, I cannot get OpenGL to work properly. I'm getting a frame rate of 14.5 f/ps on the Gears screensaver, and before I updated my kernel, I was getting over 1500. I don't know what happened, or what I did wrong, but I've been tearing my hair out all week trying to get opengl to work. Can anybody help me?

Sounds like you installed ATI's drivers. Stick with DRI's drivers, they're free and much better. Not sure, but I think the only way to get rid of the corruption of those binary blobs is reinstalling.

DRI would be great if I could compile it. It gave me an error about my kernel, something about needing ver 2.4. Is there a way to use yum or yumex to get it?
