I just downloaded the Fedora Core 5 DVD ISO image file. Burnt it to DVD and started the install. I did everything, selected language, location etc. Then I selected the packages I wanted installed and clicked next. The screen with information about where the logfile of the install is located etc came up, it said the install was about to continue. So I clicked next. It is supposed to start installing FC but it doesn't do anything.

Once I managed to get it to actually format my partitions and then install, but on reboot it froze when it's supposed to load GRUB. i.e. it had all my system info like hardware and such, then at the bottom (you know where the msg "press any key to boot from cd" when there is a windows cd in the drive, shows up). Well it didn't go any further. I left it for like an hour.

I don't know what I have done wrong. I have tried manually partitioning my drives, I made a /boot partition, a swap partition and a normal home directory ( / ).

My system specs are:
AMD 64 4400+
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe (bios version is 1.11 if I remember correctly)
2x 160 Gb SATA drives.
2x 512Mb pc3200 ram
nVidia GeForce 7800GTX 256Mb PCI-E
NEC ND3520-A DVD RW

The version I downloaded was the Bordeaux i386.iso file. I did the torrent download. Did the DVD/CD Check and it said I can continue to install using the disc as it was fine.

What is wrong? Please help

At the moment I am running Ubuntu Breezy Badger 5.10.

You downloaded the wrong version you have a 64 bit processor and you are trying to install a 32bit system on it. Download the AMD64 version

Here is the link to the version you need http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/5/x86_64/iso/

32bit still works on 64bit computers. A mate of mine did the exact same thing as me. It should work fine.
