View Full Version : /sbin/consoletype: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6

I've installed FC5 several times now, and every time, after the first reboot, I get messages like

/sbin/consoletype: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: permission denied

which prevents the init scripts from running flawlessly. The system will "hang" after a while. which means it still runs, but nothing happens.

Anyone knows this problem? And of course a solution for it?

Thanks in advance

your path or library files are severly messed up.
a couple of options:

1. boot from your FC5 media and go into rescue mode
2. Use a live cd and check out your init scripts, library files, etc (requires knowing what you're doing)

I've found a "solution" to this problem: adding selinux=0 to the kernel. I have now disabled SELinux completely.
