Both test one and two booted fine. I lost my ability to connect to the internet and also lost sound. Never could figure out how to get either back. I'm back to a solid FC1 now. I did the installs of the test1 and test 2 to a fresh disk, not an upgrade. This coming weekend I'm gonna try to do an upgrade over my FC1. Do you think this may solve my no internet and no sound problems? They have both worked fine from a fresh FC1 install when it came out. Whadaya think?
I used the 4 (3 actually) .isos that I d/led for the install
Thanx

in core 2 ( not necessarily test 2) the volume is set to mute and you need to raise the volume to hear any sound. I have just finished an install of core 2 test 2. At this period, I cannot connect to the intenet, I think I saw there was some kind of issue with IP6 or something on that line. Sorry if I am off the wall and shyit, I just quit smoking cigs, after 23 years yesterday, and had to deal with disk 1 not working and things of that order. But I still haven't had a cigarette!!! And I have Linux running on my other computer and I WILL get it connecting and let you know what I had to do to get there from here:)

How are both of you connecting to the internet? If you are using a modem/router, you may like to take a look at this thread (http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=948).
With the lack of sound, try un-muting the sounds in root first - I just used aumix from a root console.

I did unmute but not from root, nothing was muted before I checked though. FC1 insatlled right outa the "box" and that's what I have on again will make an image this weekend and try "upgrading" to FC2,2 this weekend vs the clean install I've done twice now. I'm using a cable modem, no router. FC2,2 has a problem, with eth0 and eth1 both here. Will read the link you posted and let you know this weekend what happened. I'm hoping all will get ironed out with the "upgrade" in a couple days. Sound I can do without, internet I can't.!!!!!!
:D
Thanx for the help

My motherboard has two onboard nic's, Linux had choosen the other card as the default connection, the one that didn't have a cable connected to it. I deactivated the second nic, and am able to connect through my favored connection:)

OK I'm back and online with FC 2x2. Did an upgrade from FC1 just now and all seems to be working well. At least the internet connect is working through eth0 like it should be now. One question that's relatively important though. According to up2date I have 170 updates with 0 ignored. Don't mind that at all if it's correct. BUT when I get around to the "fetching rpmheader cdrdao-1.1.8-3" in the progress dialog it hangs. Let it go for about 20 minutes twice and the same hang same spot. I have a cable modem that averages 200KBps in linux and winxppro so I know it's not that as I did a couple test d/ls prior to writing you all and it was fine. Getting the updates from fedora core rawhide. Should I change something somewhere for a better feed?
Thanx for any help, Gotta go to the Dr's now but if I live I'll be eagerly awaiting any replies. :D
OOps, gotta change my sig
