Hi guys
I installed FC5 on my HP6220 laptop and use it in the office and at home.
In the office, it is connected to the network via wired ethernet connection and at home through wireless connection (WPA, all connected)
For my office use it is perfect. At home though, it is very slow. I'll explain.
For example, running gnome-terminal can take up to 1 minute or more before it starts. Same with all the other programs. This is weird because it works fine in the office and the only difference is the network connection. Any suggestions?

i may have the same problem, i installed FC5 on my LG LE50-3lse and it worked just perfect (except for np-sound and no wireless) but after weeks it suddenly became slow, boot takes up for 5 minute it stucks on starting nfs service, cups, and sendmail then it proceedes to login , in the login i have no authentication to enter my non root user but i can log into root , but it still toooo slow that genome or kde takes ~2 minutes to load and other programs takes alot of time to load and the computer seems no response at all. it's strange because i hadn't used fedora for seriuos things i just loged into fedora two or three times since installing just exploring the net using firefox and that's it >
i'm thinking of re-installing FC5 when i have the time .
thanks alot

i am having the same issue... i did some troubleshooting... it seems if there is no internet connection it loads very.. very.. very slow. once there is an internet connection it loads very fast. it's back to normal. it must be one of the services causing it to be slow.
anyone know which one?
i only use the pc as a web server for php, mysql, apache ... i can disable all unnecessary services but don't know which one is causing it.

Check you DNS configuration. Once I had the same slow system and the problem was the DNS assigned the localhost.

Cow, setup your boot options so that the grub "quiet" option is not set
(as root, edit /boot/grub/grub.conf to remove the "quiet" string from
the kernel entry. Without quiet, the text scroll of the services and
modules loading will be visible.
Next time you reboot, the slow service will show because the scroll
of text showing them load and complete will hang longer than usual.
