I have an older system (CA810E mb) with a LCD monitor that is currently dual booting Win98 and RHEL4. In the past I've had RH9, FC2, and FC3 installed on this machine. When I try to install FC5 all I get is a black screen when I boot. I've tried many different boot options including: vesa, text, lowres, noprobe, and skipddc with absolutely no success. I'm using this system as a test case before I upgrade my other systems. On a newer system 865PERL mb, NVIDIA graphics, and a CRT monitor, I was able boot and begin the installation. I'm in the middle of some projects so I don't want to upgrade this machine yet. However, I'd like to upgrade the older machine....if I can't get the older machine upgraded I may be forced to do something drastic like install SUSE 10.

Any help getting the the install to work with a LCD would be greatly appreciated.

OK. I'm giving up and installing SUSE now.

OK...I figured it out....sort of. The problem was that the text screen asking if you want to test your disks was not visible. So I choose to skip testing and the X-server started. Hooray. I am currently installing FC5 on the problem machine.
