Test 2 of Fedora Core 2 is now available. You can download it from http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/test/1.91/ or, if you want maximum speed, you can grab the torrent from the Duke LUG (http://torrent.dulug.duke.edu/).

Down loading FC2 as I write. Question: can the repositories (sources) I now use with Yum for FC1 be used with FC2? Or will others be neccessary? Thanks.

Please, in the name of all that is holy, advice people to use mirrors!

The mirror list is avalable here: http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors.html

Use a mirror close to you!

People should also no that this is still a test release. If you're not into testing, don't use test-releases.

Testing includes investigating what the cause of a problem is and filing bug-rapports. A test release is not stable and not intended for the average user.

Dammit, I can't download it. Is there anyone in the UK who could send me a copy?

I'm still going to wait for the official release of FC2.

I sadly missed out on Test 1.

I've set aside some space on this hard disk for tests, and I'm hoping to share my /home partition. So it won't make too much difference.

Plus I'm just curious.

Hi all, I've just changed my apt sources.list to 1.91 instead of 1.90 and I am going to try to update from Test1 to Test2 via apt.

I will be updating/writing a new Howto on Fedoranews for this, if it works OK.

There's going to be loads of problems with SeLinux anyway, so keep your eyes peeled.

I'm gonna have to read up on it. I've found the following useful:

SourceForge SE Linux Policy Writing Howto (https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=21959&group_id=21266)

What would postage from the US cost? I've got plenty of blanks, and disk one of four downloaded. Working on 2, 3, and 4 right now.
(I'd send blanks to ghenry, but figure the cost would be the same) :)

Well 4 CDs can't weigh more than 100g, and from the US by US Airmail it would cost $4.80.

Nah, use bittorrent instead and share the love :)

I think all big downloads should be done via BT if possible.

Anyway, grabbing the DVD ISO now and will have a DVD burner in a few days. I will try it out on my test rig when I get it.

Hi
Do you need all 4 the disks? All the Fedora installs I have done, I only needed the first 2.

Well it depends what type of an install you're trying to do. A server install will require the latest discs and you'll need them for the kernel source and tools.

It's best to be on the safe side and get them both.

Hi all,
I've just switched from Mandrake 9.2 to Fedora Core 2 test 2. I love the BlueCurve theme. However, I have problems accessing the GUI for Display settings and RPM installer from the Gnome menu. It first asks for the root password and then nothing... I have no problem launching those directly from the console with super user permissions (i.e. redhat-config-display, etc.). The other system settings apps are working good.
Anyone experienced the same problems?
This is my first experience with Fedora BTW, but I have some background with Mandrake and KDE...

Is it sensible to go straight into a beta with no experience of the actual product?

And please ask your questions in a new thread. It'll help them to be answered better.
