Could not find kernel image: linux

Hey,

I am installed Fedora Core 5 on and Acer TravelMate 290, FC4 installed successfully previousally (but is not on the system at the moment).

I have verified that the CDs I am buring have the correct SHA1 hash and I have burned several copies of the cd incase of an error.

When booting up it says

- To install or upgrad etc..

F1 etc..
Unknown keyword in config file.
boot:

The F1-F5 buttons dont work and I dont get any response, and when I press enter (or type linux text) I get the error
"Could not find kernel image: linux"

Also the image on the inital installation welcome screen appears malformed and only the bottom 10% of the image displays correctly but I have this problem with many linux distros

I have this problem for all of the CDs including the rescue CD

type at the boot line the following

/isolinux/vmlinuz initrd=/isolinux/initrd.img


then hit enter

I'm having exactly this problem installing FC8 on my Fujitsu Amilo Pro V3205 core 2 duo laptop.
I've tried the /isolinux/vmlinuz initrd=/isolinux/initrd.img paramater but it can't find that inage either. Two different downloads, both checksums OK, both burnt at the lowest speed.
Anyone any bright ideas?

I had the problem on my FC7 upgrade to FC8. I had upgraded my DVD writer while using FC7, and I didn't realize that the new writer automatically writes at the optimized level. When I redid my ISO DVD at the slowest speed (6x), then the new DVD worked fine.
