Hiiiii,

I am absolutely new to Linux and have installed Fedora Core 4 on my PC. My problem is that I am not able to configure my network (I am not sure whether FC4 supports my network controller or there is some other problem). My PC configuration is

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Gigabyte K8N Motherboard
Gigabyte GEForce 6600GT
NVidia nForce Network Controller

I have been trying everything I can (reading books, searching the net etc.) but to no avail. I just hope someone out here can help me. Thanks for their help.

regards
som.

When you boot up, does it say something like "Determining IP address for eth0..." or something like that? If not, the kernel doesn't recognize your chipset (I'm guessing you have nforce 3 or 4, since 2 works flawlessly) and you need to install the nforce drivers provided by nvidia. The other alternative is to buy a $8 network card which works out of the box back to kernel 2.4.
